Hudson-Fulton Days and Ulysses J. Alsdorf

Finding my great-grandfather William Christopher O'Hare's orchestration of Dear Hudson-Fulton Days (Witmark, 1909) prompted an immediate question.  Although Hudson and Fulton were familiar since elementary school, what were these "Hudson-Fulton Days"? 

Eventually, curiosity also led to the engaging story of composer Ulysses John Alsdorf and his musical family.
